2017 Popcorn sales have ended. Come back in September 2018 for information about next year’s sales.
Thanks to everyone who attended the first Den Meeting of the new Scout year and thanks to all of those families who are interested in getting involved with the Popcorn Sale!
As we discussed, popcorn is a tool to help your Scout earn his own way in Scouting. And, as Cubmaster Bill shared, all of the commission earned by your Scout this fall is set aside in his “Scout account” to help him pay for Scouting activities, campouts and dues. Attached are some of the tools shared last night.
The two easiest ways to sell popcorn are:
- Use the Popcorn Order form to take orders and payment. (If you need one, let me know. We have plenty.) We will collect those order forms in October and order the popcorn you sold. Then, you deliver to your customers.
- Set up an online page and invite out-of-town friends and family to support your Scout. There are details on how to do that in the attached PDF and in the video below. It’s very easy. In the sign up process, be sure to select Pack 473 in the River Bend District. I see some Scouts have already done that!
The other two ways to sell popcorn are connected to the product our Pack already has on hand. Several families checked out popcorn last night to sell door to door and that popcorn will also be used for some upcoming Show and Sells in front of stores and the church. Thank you to those who signed up for slots – we are in great shape. I will send a reminder to those families separately.
Two tips before selling:
- Set a goal. Your Scout and family will be more successful shooting for a target. Example: sell $500 in popcorn and your Scout will have earned enough money to cover his cost for the Kennedy Space Center and the Cub Family Campout.
- Shoot for a corresponding prize. All are listed on the Popcorn Order form. I’d encourage everyone to join the Fill It Up Club!
